Listing Details: The Encinitas Artists’ Colony provides a central home for local artists. The colony provides space for artist studios and exhibits. The colony was formed in 1998 and has supported artists in all forms of performing styles. Poets, exhibitionists and theatre are all a part of the colony. The organization is fully run by volunteers. The colony produces a biyearly poetry slams that take place at the La Paloma theatre. The colony also has monthly poetry readings that always happen during the full moon. The colony creates a fantastic contributive environment for artists who want to provide their unique passion with Encinitas; the colony has created a subculture throughout the city. From its beginning, the Artists’ Colony has provided works of art, poetic readings, book signings and local life performing entertainment to San Diego residents.
