The theatres main purpose is “to produce classics and new works by or about people of African descent that entertain, educate and connect with audiences of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds.” The theatre is in existence to create a safe space for people of all ages and backgrounds to participate with their interest in the performing arts. Common Ground Theatre was named after the mission to create “common ground” for a culturally diverse community in hopes of enhancing the relations among different and underrepresented cultures. The theatre provides entertaining performances as well as youth training and educational activities.
