Editorial Review of San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres play in the National League Western Division. The San Diego Franchise was founded in 1969, the Padres have won the National League Pennant twice, in 1984 and 1998, losing in the World Series both times. Since 2004, they play at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The team has played its spring training games at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona since 1994. They share this stadium with the Seattle Mariners. The franchise has a number of players in the Major League Hall of Fame, including their newest inductee Ricky Henderson, who was inducted to the Cooperstown group in 2009.

One thing the San Diego Padres know how to do is treat their fans right. They constantly give back to the community through fundraisers, promotions and special events. Some of the projects include Stand Up To Cancer and Diamonds and Dreams from Chevrolet. For die hard fans, San Diego Padres are now on twitter and facebook and you can even take a look behind the scenes with a PETCO Park tour. Aspiring youth players can also go to the website to get tips and drills from the pros. There is also a “Frequent Friar” club for religious game goers that offers special contests, discounts and other offers (this season its even free). What are you waiting for? Let’s go out to the ball game.

Added 04/25/11 college nights for padres

I mostly go for the college night events... definitely a fun time, what's better than some overpriced beer and pizza!? But really, games are fun and I'm not a big baseball fan. Petco is in the middle of downtown and there are tons of surrounding spots to hit, and if you don't have a car or are coming from like sdsu, the trolly takes you right to it.

Added 04/20/11 Always fun!

San Diegans are very proud of their Padres, and it shows. I have been to a few padres games and have had a great time, always. We usually take the trolly to Petco Park to avoid crazy traffic. It's always fun to grab a snack and a beer and just sit and enjoy. (Maybe keeping one eye on the giant screen to see if you made an appearance). On sunny days, be sure to bring sunscreen!

Added 04/19/11 I have seen plenty of games here

This place is UNDERRATED and games are always fun to go to. Attendance usually sucks, but the tickets are so cheap I never understand it. Plenty of fun things going on, even if you aren't into baseball. Support your local Padres!
