Changes Plastic Surgery

A friend referred me to Dr. Lee for my breast augmentation. She had had a full mommy makeover (a tummy tuck and breast lift). Her results were amazing. I went in for a consultation today, and after seeing his before and after photos I was convinced. Then he did a 3D picture of what I will look like with my new boobs. Loved it! In 2009 I learned that I carried the BRCA1 mutation. This put me at an 87% risk of contracting breast cancer and over 50% chance of developing ovarian cancer. I met with a genetic counselor and various doctors to discuss my options. The choices were pretty black and white; do surveillance and wait for cancer to arrive and then hopefully treat it or have prophylactic surgeries and reduce my risk to low single digits. As a mom, my choice was an easy one, I would have the surgeries. I initially chose Dr. Lee because of his qualifications and reputation within the community; he simply does superior work and I am 100% satisfied with the outcome. I would like to share what you can’t see in the before and after photos; the difference Dr. Lee and his staff made on this emotional journey. For any woman contemplating a PBM with reconstruction, emotions are a huge factor as it can be a very scary time. I didn’t know what to expect or how I would look and this is where trust came in. I realized at some point I had to let it go and trust that Dr. Lee would take care of me and he did, amazingly well. Dr. Lee and Katie were always there to reassure my husband and me that things were progressing normally. Michelle, Melinda and Melissa consistently offered a welcoming smile and warm reception.
