Editorial Review of
Urchin Boutique
Industrial meets artistic in Urchin Boutique, a downtown San Diego boutique owned by an innovative mother-duo. One wall is old brick, while a red leather couch sits against a white fur rug. The walls are lined with cast-iron pieces by artist Fernando Apodaca, who recently designed the body art pieces for a Pearl Jam video. One of the owner's paintings hang in the boutique's bathroom. Light fixtures dangle from the ceiling like full moons lined up in a row. Several linen dresses in blue, olive and gray are affixed behind the register. The style is a mix of high urban fashion and home spun authenticity. Urchin's styles range from bohemian hippie to urban chic, in addition
to ruffled tops and dresses similar to those seen on the biggest 2007
runways. Urchin also carries clothing for men, including sweaters by Kill City and hats by Christie's of London.
