the only place that one can shop outside of la and nyc and find lines like the row, jarbo, lanvin, margiela, gaultier etc. The stock is well edited and consists of quiet, dark and luxurious pieces. Knitwear, skinny pants, high waisted trousers, draped jersey and killer jackets are always in heavy rotation. editorial worthy shoes and bags from giuseppe, lanvin and clergerie, the master of fug chic. not to be missed...bring your wallet, dont expect a hard sell, and show an appreciation for the clothes because if you dont give a damn about the clothes the proprietors wont pay you much mind.

I’ve been shopping at Gerhard for a little over a year and it’s completely changed my shopping style. Dave, one of the owners, has an exquisite eye for fashion and his honest, blunt approach is appreciated. The detail he gives to his customers is outstanding. I can no longer stand to be in Neimans, Saks, Nordstrom where everything is the same cut and color. If I try on a $3,000 Herve dress and Dave doesn’t think it looks good-he’ll tell me rather than take the sale. Pricey? Well, yes, but Gerhard carries staple brands like James Perse, new up and coming The Row, and up to timeless pieces like Lanvin, Clergerie, and Herve to name a few. Don’t expect to find the same old black Lanvin and Clergerie pumps that everyone else has. Gerhard carries rich colors and fabrics in the same style that stands out among the crowd. I was able to buy a beautiful pair of Christian Louboutin Glitter Mary Jane’s that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Gerhard is not new to Del Mar, it’s been in the plaza for about 20 years. It’s located on the second level tucked away in a quiet corner behind Pacifica Del Mar. I would highly recommend if you’re in the area and appreciate fashion to stop in and say hello. It’s a changing experience and one of the few places I’ll shop.
