I’m a bit jaded when it comes to fun places, but the Airport Lounge kinda did it for me. Had a little difficulty finding the place, but when I finally got there, I was somewhat amused by the airline getup of the staff. The food was a bit pricey, but definitely worth every cent. Definitely a far better place than an actual airport lounge.

My sis was right. No pop music here. Just good ‘ol rock and roll. And the different kinds of beer rock! And I was lucky enough to get there on a Wednesday, with their one dollar special. It got a bit crowded though, but who can blame them? The babes frequenting the place were quite a sight too.

If you’re into all things Latino, then you gotta check out Tropicoso in Garnet. Great samba music, the drinks are quite cheap, and the mojitos are really good. Hated the fog machines though. What’s up with that? People kept bumping into me, probably because they could barely see through all that fake fog. But it’s still a great place to party.

The rancho santa fe inn was a wonderful place to stay with your significant other. Be sure to get the suite or whatever they call the rooms that have a patio with a mexican style fireplace outside. I stayed there for two days with my wife and we absolutely loved it.

I was there early this year, and was really amazed with the decor. I'm not really into jazz, but the guy playing there that Tuesday was really good, Gilbert Castellanos, I think his name was. On top of this great music, Onyx is really classy, and has really friendly staff. I felt kinda out of place though, because almost everyone there that night appeared to be big jazz afficionados.

If there's one reason to check this place out, it's the food. Most definitely the food. Relatively cheap food, friendly and attentive waitstaff, great music. But I have to assume they have problems marketing the place. There were only about three groups of people the night we went in, and not too many of my bar-hopping friends know about it.

Haven't been to The Tap Room, so I'm just echoing what my friend said about this place. The beer selection is great. He didn't go ga-ga over the food, but he did like the grilled chicken salad and the reasonably priced pizzas. He was just annoyed with the gaggle of teenage kids that regularly hang around the place. Not really sure why, but you know how most kids are today.

It's been a while since I last went to RT's, and I miss the live music, reggae and rock mostly, that they serve up there. I also miss the food--especially the quesadillas--although getting served could take some time, especially when the place starts to fill up. A haven for smokers too, with that open space towards the front. Cool bartenders too.

I wasn't kidding when I said it's a cool little hangout. The place really is a bit small, so unless you just wanna be left standing around for the rest of the night, better come in early. The cool hip-hop and reggae music, the cheap booze, and the cool staff, however, more than make up for its shortcomings in terms of space.

If the sound of DJs mixin' it up on their turntables is your kind of thing, then Landlord Jim's is the place to be. Be it hip hop, eighties music, crunk, the DJs there play it, and they are pretty good at it. The drinks are kinda cheap too, which is probably why drunk patrons have no problems spilling them onto the floor and making it sticky.

Lucy's Tavern is your typical dive bar. You're there for the cheap drinks, not for anything else. The bartenders are pretty cool, although they do tend to overserve, and you end up dead-drunk. What I really like about the place is its unpretentious atmosphere. The redneck music, however, is another story.

I've got a thing for Asian women, so imagine my surprise when I went into this bar and saw that its bar was manned by friendly Oriental cuties! OK, so most of them had fake boobs, but who cares? Anyway, the drinks here are so cheap that for a just a few bucks, you’re guaranteed a hangover the following day. I just didn’t dig the Christmas lights.

Heard from a friend the Tivoli Bar served cheap drinks, and the service is fast and spot on. A haven for sports nuts, with TVs all over the place tuned in to games. It's also said to be the oldest bar in the area, so I guess that's gotta count for something. However, she told me never to go there when there’s a Padres game on. Too crowded.

My boyfriend took me once to Side Bar, and was pretty impressed with how chic and trendy the place is. The bartenders are cool too, and it has good music for dancing. Belly Up is definitely the place to go if you want to enjoy, great live music. More spacious than your average bar, but maintains an intimate setting, which I think is one of its biggest strengths. The acoustics are top notch, and the acts are pretty diverse, so there’s something here for everyone. Reasonably priced booze and food, nice staff. Just thought the bathrooms could use a little more cleaning.

This place is practically synonymous with great burgers. Their stuffed burgers are some of the best I've ever had. The drinks here are also pretty strong, but they do go well with the burgers I love. OK, so it’s a gay bar, but who cares? It’s a pretty cool joint, and has a large outdoor smoking area for human chimneys like me, so this is my kind of place.

I liked the DJ here. He could play any kind of music and still get people to shake their tailfeathers. And the place is pretty roomy too. You can dance without elbowing another person with every move you make. The drinks, however, are a bit expensive, but if you want to get any of the hot bartenders to pour you a drink, prepare to spend more.

This place rocks, literally! Some of the best up and coming rock bands play here. Naturally, the place can get real loud, so better wear earplugs if rock's not your thing, or you can just hang out at the lounge in the back. The booze is rather cheap too, but parking could be a problem, and the bathrooms could be cleaner.

To be honest, the only reason why I stayed at this hotel is because it’s supposed to be historic. But it was a pleasant surprise age hasn’t dulled its beauty. It still is a beautiful place, and its service was very good. The views are quite enjoyable, and so are the basement shops. The standard rooms, however, were a little too small for my taste, and pricey too.

The Ivy Hotel just opened recently, and I've been hearing good things about it. The rooms are luxurious, with 42-inch flat screen TVs! Hi-tech amenities are in place, so I'm assuming that means wireless Internet connectivity. The rooftop nightclub also seems interesting, and is said to have a really huge bar. I’ll be checking that out when I visit San Diego next month. This, however, could get expensive.

Our wedding took place there, and it's the most romantic of places. My husband and I stayed there for a couple of nights, and we were blown away by the breathtaking views, the luxurious and spacious suites, and the amazing food and service! Big and clean rooms, very friendly and accommodating staff, free breakfast and paper, as well as wine from 4 to 5 in the afternoon, and unlike other hotels, it doesn’t scrimp on bath products. No free internet though, but they do have this kiosk where you can check your email. Still, this is one hotel I’ll have no problems staying at should I visit San Diego again.

Very fun place. The crowd was great, though not overly crowded, and the bartenders were friendly (and hot). The view is amazing, there's more than one bar which is good. It's the biggest roof top lounge/bar that I've been to downtown (compared to Solamar and the W for example).

I'd stay here again if only for the secluded beach. But then again, the spa (where I got the most soothing massage of my life), the great food and the excellent service we got from its staff are already worth coming back to. My best friend and her husband were there last month, and they've got nothing but praise for this spectacularly-located hotel. The view alone from its terrace which extends over the water is already worth the price of admission, which, according to them, can be a bit pricey. Nevertheless, the perfect rooms, the great staff and the generally relaxing atmosphere made their vacation one of the best they’ve had.

This hotel had a concert area, and I got a room overlooking it, but no one was playing that night. Still, I enjoyed the heated outdoor pool, the promenade was a nice walk, free coffee and Internet at the lobby, and the food at the onsite restaurant was good. I've always equated "affordable hotel rooms" with "stinking hotel rooms with creepy-crawlies all over”, but surprisingly enough, this hotel had none of that. In fact, the rooms were actually very clean, albeit small for me, and had balconies with nice views of the ocean. The food at the onsite café is OK, but if you want something else, there are a number of restaurants nearby.

I think the word "awesome" best describes this hotel. Large artfully designed rooms, plush beds, great and helpful staff, strategic location, great food, and....oh well, you get the picture. Of course all these could cost you more, especially the valet parking which is particularly expensive and I sort of had issues with, but I got over it. The beauty of this hotel is just overwhelming.

Maybe the big suite with a kitchen was probably why I thought there was a homey feel to this hotel. The rates were affordable, hence the big room. Great service, nice pool area, and the continental breakfast was good. The walls were a bit too thin for comfort though. The couple occupying the room next to ours were at it all night, but we did had fun listening to them.

This boutique hotel is kinda old, but it still is a great place to stay. The view of San Diego at the top was breathtaking, and I enjoyed the food, especially the salad. Also had a grand time at one of its bars (Karaoke night!). And for some reason, there were a lot of good-looking guys there. I found the elevator a bit tiny though.

What this hotel really has got going for itself is its location right at the center of Gaslamp Quarter, with fine restaurants, shopping centers and vibrant nightlife just minutes away. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, has a friendly and helpful staff, and the bath products weren’t the cheap kind. The rooms are nice, but a bit too small for my taste.

Call me a freeloader, but I wasn’t going to pass up a chance to vacation in San Diego with a rich aunt, for free! We stayed at this hotel called La Valencia, which has beautifully and tastefully decorated rooms, great views of the beach, and great food during brunch on Sundays, The prices are pretty steep, but I wasn’t paying, so I didn’t give much thought to it.

A friend recommended I stay at this hotel for my business trip last month. I took his word for it, and was pretty glad I did. There was high-speed Internet access in my room, which was very comfortable and spacious, not to mention tastefully designed, and had a very comfy bed. The food is great, especially at the Mustangs and Burros restaurant. I am most definitely coming back.

The primary reason I stay at this Hyatt is its location near the U.C. San Diego, where my daughter studies. I’ve stayed at Hyatt hotels elsewhere before, and everything about it is typical of the chain: clean rooms, comfortable beds, good service. It also has a state of the art Sporting Club, where I did some cardio exercises. Rates, of course, are a bit more expensive, especially the parking.

This hotel is right in the middle of downtown La Jolla, but you can’t help but feel you’re in a calm, quiet getaway. Maybe it’s the feng shui stuff I was told was all over the place. It has very comfortable rooms, plush bathrooms, complimentary parking and continental breakfast. The place doesn’t have a gym or pool though, but still one of the best small hotels that I’ve been to.

This is probably one of the most complete spas in San Diego in the sense that it offers not only the usual spa fare, but various cosmetic surgery procedures as well. I’ve never been to this place, but a friend of mine has, and he’s all praises for this spa. He said that it has clean facilities and great service, but he really like about it is that before his service was up, he got a terrific neck and shoulder massage. I’ve been to many spas in my life, but the staff here is made up of some of the most courteous and accommodating people I’ve ever encountered. The place is pretty luxurious, and I especially liked the hot tub. But the 50-minutee massage is what I like best. The masseuses are pretty good at what they do, and often hit the right spot. A bit expensive, but worth it.

As expected the steaks at this place was great, but you gotta try the nice and tender filet too. There are a plethora of other dishes available, but I kinda stuck it out with its specialty. In any case, the lava cake was unbelievably scrumptious you shouldn’t miss it. The place is a bit noisy and dark though, but I don’t really mind.

The reason I checked this place out is because of its cheese fondue, which is way beyond excellent! There were other great dishes in the menu, but the fondue takes the cake. Try topping it off with a chocolate fondue and you’ll achieve something close to nirvana. It just a tad expensive, but it’s expected of a place like this.

All you can drink Mimosas for $19.95? Sounds too good to be true, but I did take advantage of it, and went home really drunk. But before I spaced out, I remember enjoying the Champagne Brunch, and had my fill of omelettes, sausages, chicken, turkey, vegetables, shrimp, chips and what have you. A bit pricey, but my friend treated me to it, so it was ok.

This place has got some really awesome food. The huge appetizer combo plate alone, which has mushrooms, zucchini, onion rings, is more than enough to perk up your appetite. Try the French onion soup, the garbage burger and the pizza. Its staff is very friendly, and the place’s ambiance is pretty casual. The fireplace is a particularly nice touch. It’s a bit dark, and the floor is kinda sticky though.

This is the only Greek restaurant I’ve ever been to, so I can’t compare it with other similarly-themed restaurants. But the food was pretty delicious, especially the Mediterranean chicken salad. Their employees are very nice and give great service, and the prices, while not exactly cheap, are quite reasonable. I had a good time here, and I can’t think of anything negative about it.

But then I go into their hip-hop room and it stunk like BO!It sucks that their electronic room, is bigger, and the hip-hop room is so small.The bartenders were cool and the price was about average. When I first stepped into this place, I had mixed feelings about it.But then I saw the prices for their drinks e.g. $3.50 for a 7&7!Then I started to talk to their very friendly bartenders from John to Jeff and I feel in love with the place. I go at least twice a week and get some great food. Don't judge a book by its cover and get to know this place.The regulars are cool old men, who have tons of fun stories, and once a while they pay for your drink.

The Taproom in P.B. has to be the best bar i've been to in S.D. They have 10 plasma tv's, great customer service and excellent food. They serve great beer and the majority of it is all local brew. I would recommend Taproom to anyone who is looking to have a good time, good bear and a great atmosphere.

Contrary to what I've read on other websites, the service was horrible! The staff, particulary the bar manager, was extremely rude and could not have cared less if their customers were happy. If you're not a "local", then you won't get good treatment. There is nothing worse than servers on a power trip. I would steer clear of this haven of rudeness and visit one of the many other fine establishments that PB has to offer!

I have only been once and the time I went the experience was pleasant. The guy behind the counter did a great job explaining how the restaurant worked and new the selections well. I liked the variety of options you had to choose from. whether it was sauces or things to put inside the burrito. Not a traditional Mexican burrito place but if you are looking for a burrito like that it is a good place to go.

Stingaree appears to be a hip place to be. I was invited here to attend a bday celebration. We were all treated like kings and queens in a VIP dining area. The audience area by the stage is large and there is a bar nearby so you can swig on a drink as you enjoy he music. A second bar can also be found in the dining section of HOB. The ground-floor restaurant section of House of Blues has very average food. I would definitely eat somewhere else, but it is worth a try just to see if you can find something good. The waiters and waitresses in the dining area are really outgoing and help make you forget how sub-par the food is.

A place to celebrate birthdays, go on a date, girls/guys night, and with family! The Turquoise Cafe Bar Europa is unique in that it is close to the beach that attracts a crowd that is more "dressy" than Garnett Street, yet not too "dressy" like La Jolla's Restaurants/Bars. Don't let the Pacific Beach address of Dimension A Salon fool you. This salon beats anything you will find its pricier counterparts of La Jolla or Del Mar. I know this, because I have been to them. Darryl is amazing! He seemed to intuitively know the color I wanted/needed even better than I did, and the result was incredible. I was 100% satisfied and pleased with my hair when I walked out of his salon. Darryl took the time to color and cut my hair with precision and an abundance of experience. Unfortunately for such a nice restaurant the food is TERRIBLE!!! Although it offers a pleasant atmosphere and great customer service, I cannot say the same for the food items. There are avrious meats served, but most if not all of them are over or under cooked and seasoned. As for the other entrees, they are disgusting (that's putting it nicely) there is not a lot to choose from, but what there is can be considered horrendous! I would not recommend this terrible and overpriced restaurant to anyone nor would I ever return to eat there even if I was offered a free all you can eat meal DEFINITELY THUMBS DOWN!!!

My recent experience at the Shore Club was horrible. I heard that it was a great place with an awesome view. The view was the only worthwhile aspect. For those opting to stay away from red meat, the Shrimp Alexander is terrific, and if you're into oysters on the half shell--have them, they're wonderful. I've been coming to The Fish Market for a few years now and I always get the same dish--The Swordfish. It's very tasty. I accompany it with rice pilaf and cherry tomatoes and I feel great afterwards. I have shopped at Forever 21 a couple of times now and I have found that while their clothes are very inexpensive (cheap) they are also cheap in quality. They will last up until you have to wash them--them you might as well throw them away or save them for your pet yorkie. THEY WILL SHRINK or fall apart in the washer. I also came to find that their clothes run really really small. I am normally a small or extra small (sizes 2-4) but even the small clothes fit me tight at Forever 21. I guess it's okay for one-time-use, but don't expect quality.

I always shop at Buffalo Exchange in Hillcrest for almost all my clothes. I can find a nice top from an excvlusive boutique or upscale retailer for a much lower price. They also have a great selection on designer jeans for much lower prices. Although most of their clothes are second-hand they are all in good condition.

American Apparel is the coolest store if your style is simple and colorful. If you want really comfortable clothes to lounge, work out or just for everyday this store is great. There is a huge variety of styles and shapes. Cute loungy dresses, sweatpants and comfy shorts. If you're in Pacific Beach and want to pick up something to wear go to American Apparel.

I went looking for cute, colorful, and different going out clothes but all I found was overpriced neon, too funky clothes. If thats your thing they do happen to have Miss Sixty and other funky brands. You def. have to be pretty daring to wear anything from Lets Go.

You could find anything in Nordstrom Rack for half the price of local retailers. I found some cute jeans at an incredible price. You are kind of on your own when you shop there. There really isn't any assistance but you could wonder off and find cool jewelery, accesories, jeans, and SHOES at a really good price.

Moondoggies in Pacific Beach is fun when you go with a good group of friends because the drinks are soo cheap. However, I guess there might too many people rushing to the bar because one of the bartenders totally yelled at me for no reason.

Stingaree in Downtown was really cool. There are three floors all that are crowded with people dancing. It def. was expensive for drinks. There was kind of an older crowd, well older men crowd with younger ladies. Fun music, very upbeat and fancy.

The Belly Up Tavern is a great place for reggae showes.

I saw Barrington Levy at the Belly Up Tavern and it was so much fun. They had cheap bar snacks to eat before the concert actually started, cheap drinks and it was huge. There are cool booths and plenty of seating for concerts. The waitresses were a bit rude but that was probably the only bad thing.

The Puma store in Downtown is huge

Located in Downtown was perfect for shopping and people watching in San Diego. It was one of the biggest Puma stores I had ever been to. They had all the latest styles and trends. Cool track jackets and running shoes is what you'll find.

The River in Pacific Beach has very hip trends.

The River has the latest styles in jeans and new trends. I would compare it to Kitson in LA, very trendy, diffferent and lots of cool gifts. It is kind of pricey but worth it.

Joe's Crab Shack's view over looking the ocean in Pacific Beach is amazing

I love fried, grilled or coconut shrimp and Joe's crab shack has it. Pretty affordable for a fun, festive atmosphere. Make sure to go during happy hour for the drink and bar snack specials.

Green means go, Red means stop and it's all you can eat. They just keep bringing you the most delicious Brazilian BBQ until you can't take it anymore. The salad bar is really good too.

Beauty Bar is my favorite bar in SD because you can get your nails done while you jam to the best DJs around. They host the best bands and the crowd is always unique--not your typically SD nightlight scene, thank god.

I love going to the Wave House to watch the surfers on the wave machine and drink cold beers with my friends. You can't beat the location...inches away from the Pacific Ocean. They also host some great live music.

Although the clothes from Forever 21 run small and usually fall apart, there are some gems. First off, I would try on the clothes b/c looks may be deceiving. Also, check the hem lines and make sure they are in line and there aren't any loose threads. I can find a good top to go out in and maybe wear again later. Plus if you spill your drink you won't care b/c it was so cheap.

A/C Lounge in San Diego

We had to wait in line for 20 minutes before getting in, but the A/C Lounge was worth the wait. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the crowd was an interesting mix. The bartenders make the drinks strong, so you get your money's worth for the price.

Johnny V's strays away from the typical PB dive bar. They enforce a dress code...no shorts...we learned the hard way. The dance floor is spacious enough to actually DANCE, instead being crammed into a small space while trying not to spill your drink on the guy inches away from you.

Oki Doky in North Park hardly has any value

Unlike other cheap, trendy stores, Oki Doky really shows it. The clothes are sooo cheap and look tacky. I'm alright with wearing inexpensive non-brand but when it looks cheap it won't fly. Plus, their clothes are outdated and bad materials.

On Broadway in Downtown San Diego

We wanted to try something different from our typical evening at a dive bar, so we headed Downtown for a little dancing and glamor at On Broadway. The $20.00 cover left a bad taste in my mouth, which was soon rinsed away by my $10 gin and tonic. The go-go dancers and selection of dance floors were awesome.

This store is huge compared to other Pink Zones where the clothes are all jam-packed in a tiny store. They have all sorts of tank tops and booty shorts to head out to the beach. Interestingly enough, they have this trashy lingerie section that would make for some really cool costumes.

I love going to Longboard's for their Sunday Reggae Night. Grab a bottle of Red Stripe, listen to the awesome live music, and just take it all in. This is Pacific Beach culture at its best. The bartenders never leave you waiting too long, and the cover is a steal considering the live band!

I have never had so much fun going out to dinner before. The whole atmosphere took me back...way back. We even got the DJ to play our song. The food was great, my friend ordered a hot dog and the servers came to our table to serenade her with a song about a girl who loves hot dogs. The waiter threw a TON of Bazooka Joe at us at the end of our meal. It was a great way to end a great night!

I had been searching for a cool reggae bar in San Diego for a while until i came across Bar Dynamite. Its has a really relaxed ambiance and they play really good music. Not just reggae but they mix up the sound with DJ turntables. Their drink specials are not too shabby either.

The Waterfront was the perfect escape from the ultra-hip clubs of the Gaslamp Quarter. The cover was non-existent and the beers were affordable. The crowd was an interesting mix of business people, college students, and foreigners. We hung out on the patio, but there were also pool tables in the back.

I always make sure to stop by this little boutique in OB. They always seem to have the newest fashions...without me having venture Downtown. The prices can tend to be a little steep, but the selection of shoes, dresses, jeans, and tops makes it worth the price.

I don't know about every one else but I would not pay more for a pet outfit than for myself. The prices were way out there. Not only was it hard to find parking but I couldn't imagine dressing up my cute little terrier in something pink. If you like to haul your pooch in bags and dress them up go for it but not at those prices.

I love seeing shows here! This venue is one of the only ones in San Diego that lets the under 21's like me in. There are some great bands that stop by...I saw Thrice here once. The tickets aren't too expensive, either.

Hillcrest would not be the same with out the famous Corvette Diner. Great place to be nostalgic and reminiscent of the 1950's. They have goood all-American burgers, fries and milkshakes. I love it!

I went to Ruth Chris for my birthday last month. I have to say that the New York strip steak I ordered had to have been the best hunk of meat I have ever consumed. I followed it up with a cheesecake for dessert. It was so good I literally licked my plate clean.
