Hailing from traditional Sicilian restaurants Francu u Piscaures in Porticellor and The Grand Hotel in Florence, celebrated Chef-owner Alessandro Carollo brings authentic Italian flavors across the Atlantic to the shores of downtown La Jolla. Indulgence meets simplicity on the Venice menu. The carpaccio al gorgonzola, for example, is only a thinly sliced filet mignon, sprinkled with gorgonzola with a dash of lemon, but manages a leave a deep, zesty impression on the palate. Venice also boasts Southern California’s largest wine cellar of 4,000 bottles of Italian wines at every price range.

After viewing this restaurants menu online, a friend of mine and I went in with ordering the "sampling menu" in mind. However, when we got the menu, it was not on the La Jolla menu. We inquired about it and the chef came to the table and told us that they did the tasting menu, or sampling menu at their Denver location only. But said that if we gave notice that we wanted to do that the next time they would do it for us. 10 minutes later he came back to our table and said that he could do it for us if we didn't mind a small wait between courses. We jumped at it. I'm telling you, the food was amazing. With each course that he brought out to our table, neither my friend or I could believe that this dish could be better than one previously. Each course was mind blowing. The wine that was suggested with our meal was perfect. I just can't say enough about this restaurant and it's service and quality of it's food. However, it isn't cheap. But it's worth every penny. Enjoy
