Editorial Review of URBN North Park

With the success of the Vista URBN underway, Mangini launched the newest and most stylish URBN in the equally artsy North Park neighborhood in October 2010. Featuring the signature industrial feel with cement floors and exposed elements, the 5,000 –sq-ft URBN boasts conversation-starting old conveyor belts, factory lights, retractable garage doors that open to the street and low level lighting. URBN is known for straight up, coal fired, thin crust New Haven style pie. Also on the menu is a selection of meat and cheese boards, salads, and craft pies. If you’re too lazy to make your own pie, trust the URBN pros and opt for one of the craft varieties, such as Sausage & Peppers with tomato, gorgonzola stuffed cherry peppers and fresh mozzarella; Mashed Potato with pancetta, fresh mozzarella and parmesan; and Vegan with tomato, fresh arugula, red onion, mushroom and artichoke heart. Add some fresh flavor into the mix with a Figs & Greens Salad with port-poached figs, artisan greens, toasted hazelnuts, chevre and white balsamic glaze; or the classic URBN Salad with petit greens, bosc pear, gorgonzola dulce, walnut brittle and vinaigrette. Thirsty pie-eaters will be stoked that URBN offers 45-50 different available beers at all times, with an emphasis on Belgian, UK, Japan and San Diego crafts, featuring 12 beers on tap. Or indulge in “brown spirits” – with 35 wines poured, and a generous selection of fine Whiskey, Tequila, Rum and more. If you’re feeling sassy, try one of URBN’s signature cocktails, including the Buffalo Whisperer with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Amaro Nonino and orange bitters; Lemon Thyme Cooler with Hangar One Buddha’s Hand, lemon, St. Germain and agave nectar; and Point Blank with Sagatiba Cachaca, Green Chartreuse, Luxardo Marashino and lime.
