The outward appearance of this upscale beach dive is very modern simplistic, giving UNION Kitchen and Tap a feeling of sophistication without becoming pretentious. We were invited to come up to Union to try some food and drink some craft beer. This place has an amazing interior, great staff and awesome food. Coming from the PB area we normally don't come up to Encinitas but if we keep finding more places like this we definitely will change that. My wife and I tried the new UNION and loved it! We sat in the Oakroom, separate from the bar area. The space is amazing, staff friendly and the food was excellent, especially the flatbread!

Added 06/07/11 All I can say is WOW!

I went here for my first time last Saturday and it was absolutely packed! After the hostess told us the wait might be a little over 30 minutes we went over to the bar and had a drink, before I could take my second sip, there was a table ready for us! I ordered the burger with tomato paste...HANDS DOWN THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER EATEN! Everybody else loved their meals too. Half way through our meal the owner came over and had a chat with us, it was the best dining experience I've had in years. Not to mention the place looks awesome! Do not miss out on this place. I recommend it to everybody.

Added 05/11/11 FIlling a Gap in North County

The opening of UNION is highly anticipated amongst the locals here in North County San Diego. I've had the opportunity to preview the dishes, so I know this restaurant will not disappoint. Everything is fresh, handcrafted and just all around excellent! The Crab Cakes and the Shrimp & Grits are to die for!

I can't wait for UNION to open it's doors. I recently went to the PB Ale House and had a great time. I can't wait to see what else they can come up with.
