A long-standing icon of fine dining in La Jolla, Trattoria Acqua is continuing the 15 year celebration by rebranding the restaurant as Trattoria Acqua on the Cove. The new name comes with a revamped menu with “back to the basics” comfort foods and an appropriately reduced price point. Trattoria Acqua calls one of La Jolla’s luckiest lots home, overlooking the cove and the Pacific. With views like that, at any other restaurant you’d forget the meal sitting in front of you— but not at Trattoria Acqua. Fresh seafood is prepared with Mediterranean flair, and displays an admirable range of undersea diversity. Favorite dishes include Angry Shrimp Scampi – Spicy Black Tiger Shrimp sautéed “Scampi style” with a chipotle pepper & garlic/brandy reduction sauce with a touch of cream and served with “organic” summer vegetables; Mongolian Pork Chop – Asian marinated grilled “Kurobota” pork chop served with brocollini, buttermilk whipped potatoes and red wine vinegar-mustard sauce.
Trattoria Acqua is one of my favorite restuarants in all of San Diego. The atmosphere and location are unbeatable. Such a great place to take a date or family from out of town. I always order a seafood pasta dish, they are cooked to perfection and presented so beautifully. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly and they are always willing to anwser any questions. The wine selection is top notch and the staff will help you pair a dish and wine together perfectly.
There are a few other Italian gems but Trattoria's atmosphere, caring staff, and location set it apart.
This is the best Italian restaurant in San Diego, not only for the phenomenal food, but also the atmosphere and the unparalleled service. I bring all of my out of town guests here. As well as celebrate my most special occasions. And they make it a unique experience every time. On my 33rd birthday they brought us all lobster bisque shooters and the cake had sparklers on it as well as a beautiful Italian song sung by our fantastic waiter. It was the best!
