Editorial Review of
Tikul Coastal Mexican
Grupo La Palapa, a premier restaurant group from Puerto Vallarta, is set to open Tikul Coastal Mexican on Prospect Street in La Jolla in July 2010. This modern contemporary 3,500-square-foot restaurant boasts an outdoor patio, lunch and dinner menus, and the authentic ambiance of the Mexican Riviera. Utilizing fresh seasonal ingredients from local purveyors, Tikul will provide an original spin on traditional Mexican cuisine. Specialty dishes include the famous Braised Short Rib Flautas, Duck Enchiladas with Goat Cheese, the Mexican Tuna Stack, and an oven baked Filet of Fish marinated in Adobo. A fresh ceviche bar will be fully stocked with nearly half a dozen authentic varieties, including the Acapulco and Tropical ceviche with passion fruit nector. Cocktails at Tikul will be reminiscent of a Puerto Vallarta getaway, complete with locally grown California fresh fruits and a presentation catering to the senses. Tropical martinis, fresh fruit margaritas and exotic sangrias will blend an alluring array of luscious flavors such as jalapeno, mango, watermelon, guayava and passion fruit. An impressive array of fine tequilas will be in stock, and educational tequila seminars as well as food pairings will be a regular part of Tikul’s line up.
