The Prado at Balboa Park is one of the Cohn Restaurant Group's finest San Diego dining enterprises. A warm spirited and diverse crowd meets a truly eclectic atmosphere for lunch and dinner throughout the week. Majestic, historic charm and an innovative menu selection allure fine diners while technicolor excitement and garden patio comfort speak to families and tourists in the park plaza. The Prado patio follows a day at the San Diego Natural History Museum, The Prado dining room precedes an evening show at The Old Globe and a blend of both stands strong in solitude. The menu communicates classic San Diego with a multicultural flair. You must begin with the calamari fries, tossed in a sweet and spicy Korean soy bean chili sauce and Napa cabbage slaw. And we dare you to resist the Adobo braised pork osso buco with sweet potato plantain mash, sautéed white corn, tomato and zucchini, topped with tomatillo-cilantro sauce. The quaint charm of this large Cohn restaurant will astound your senses as the menu keeps you yearning for more.
I went out to for dinner at The Prado in San Diego the other night with my family and it was to die for! The server was knowledgeable and made great recommendations. She made us feel very welcomed too. The menu had a lot of variety, even my picky and particular sister loved her salmon. The swordfish I had melted in my mouth. The Prado is in Balboa Park so the area was beautiful. The menu was expensive, so I won't be going back on a weekly basis, but I would if I could!
We did the whole dining at the Prado and watching a show at the Old Globe thing and had an unforgettable time. Dinner and a movie to the extreme. I'm not usually into fine dining but this is definitely the best experience I've had at that type of restaurant.
My boyfriend took me here and this is a fabulous restaurant for a perfect romantic date....the calamari is amazing and the grilled hawaiian ono is a must try! The chocolate souffle is to die for!
My family and I end up going here all the time when we can't make a decision on where to eat. We always have a great time here. The menu hasn't changed in years but it's still the best. The ahi with an edamame salad has been my favorite ever since who knows when! It get s a little crowded in here on weekends, but that goes for any other popular restaurant in San Diego. So it's smart to make reservations ahead of time.
The Prado is one of the finest restaurant in San Diego. Quite expensive but it's worth it. The food is dleicious and the interior is just a hit. I'd recommend this place for a romantic candle light dinner.
The grilled calamari is excellent, a perfect mix of flavors from around the globe. Top it with the earth and sea, a strip steak with lobster white truffle mac and cheese and you will find yourself in heaven. The wifey had the braised beef ribs with an espresso reduction and again, it was excellent. Try the side of plantain-sweet potato mash for the perfect sweet side dish. Also, the location is superb, a great place to stop before a night at the Old Globe.
I absolutely loved this restaurant! They have great service and the calamari is to die for! The menu offers a wide array of food and it is absolutely delicious!
I love fine dining and the Prado has perfected the art to a tee. I was especially impressed with the service....the best i have ever had. Our waiter gave us detailed descriptions and gladly anwsered any of our questions. worth the price.
With great prices, a great wine list, and great appetizers, the Prado is the perfect place for an afternoon nosh. It also serves as the perfect prelude to a night at the Globe or Summer Concert in Balboa Park. Half off appetizers are a great endings to a perfect day! The special events team at The Prado are so amazing and transform the ballroom in to a magnificent venue for a wedding, prom, or celebration. Truly a San Diego landmark!
Wonderful cuisine in a wonderful location! I recommend eating on the patio under the white lights. The service here was unmatchable. The food was delicious and unique. The menu offered choices from all over the world.
I don't eat at The Prado in Balboa Park too often. Let's face it--eating this well gets expensive. But, I do respect The Prado as one of the finest restaurants in San Diego, and I will always recommend it. On that note--the calamari? Outstanding. Who knew what chili sauce could do.
