If you like your seafood fresh, your martinis a little dirty, your ambience Hollywood-set worthy, and your chefs straight out of Bravo's Top Chef, then look no further than Gaslamp’s Oceanaire Seafood Room.
Decorated like the dining cabin of a 1930’s ocean liner, Oceanaire is dedicated to serving the highest quality seafood to its patrons. Just above the cherry tables and white linen tablecloths, you’ll see a chalkboard featuring the day’s catches.
Oceanaire features a full bar – two bars in fact. The traditional bar serves up everything from a dirty martini to a delightful merlot, while the oyster bar introduces a variety of raw oysters, from the wellfleets of Massachusetts to the malpeques from Prince Edward Island. Don’t know the difference between an oyster and a mussel? Don’t worry – the staff at Oceanaire are as knowledgeable and friendly as can be.
I am a seafood connoisseur. That being said, I've dined at seafood restaurants all over the country, from hole-in-the-wall shacks in the bayou to five-star establishments in cities across the U.S. While most seafood joints lay claim to having the "freshest" seafood around, few can actually live up to it. The Oceanaire Seafood Room can - and does. Their fish selection is second to none, with varieties most patrons have never even heard of, let alone dined upon. Their shellfish is also transcendent, and I can't seem to recall ever having eaten such succulent oysters in my life. Round out any meal with one of the restaurant's signature martinis, and you've got yourself a winner.
