breakfast was spectacular...best eggs benedict

We recently had a simple wedding ceremony and ordered a simple cake from the French Gourmet - a certain mistake on our part. We were told when we ordered the cake they could certainly make it. When a friend went to pick the cake up the morning of the wedding, the restaurant could not find it or the order. They finally located it or something that resembled the one we ordered. The cake was very very dry, very unattractively decorated and was served to our guests after lunch. When I got it home and was preparing the three pieces remaining for freezing I discovered mold on the bottom of the cake. We returned to the French Gourmet the next day to complain and was told we would have to return when the owner was there and given his card. While waiting two other customers were waiting for a birthday cake they had ordered and been given one that was not at all what they ordered. We returned the next day and the owner of the The French Gourmet denied that there was anything wrong with the cake when we presented it to him. He insisted that the mold was just burnt sugar or something like that and then he was insulting about the price we paid for a "wedding cake." We were given a full refund after he also blamed the hostess at the cashier for taking an order for a cake they don't normally make and embarrassed her in front of several customers. The food at this restaurant may be great, but the arrogance of the owner, the way were treated and the quality of the cake we received will keep us from ever going there for anything again. Every business makes mistakes on occasion and how they handle them is indicative of their care for their customers. It is clear this restaurant cares not about their customer service.
