Editorial Review of The Fleetwood

The Fleetwood is the perfect mix of Gaslamp chic and urban East Village cool – located just a few blocks from PETCO Park in the up and coming San Diego East Village district. Check out The Fleetwood for dinner and enjoy a fine dining experience of savory American fare with an upscale flair – and don’t forget to order a side of the tater tots. Stay after dinner and hit the central bar that encircles the main dining room with shades of tan and modern black bar stools. Come during Happy Hour for unbeatable drink specials and, usually, a front row seat to most Padres games and other sporting events. In the sports bar lounge you will find an several over-sized plasma TVs, two monstrous ten foot projectors and plush leather couches for the new-age sports fan. In the beach is a dance lounge with a hard-hitting DJ booth, warmed by a quaint fireplace. There is something for everyone here, making The Fleetwood the perfect destination for all seekers of San Diego nightlife and a perfect spot to please more finicky groups. Hit The Fleetwood for drinks before the Padres game – and return after the victory for a long night on the dance floor. Or, visit The Fleetwood for dinner, and allow yourself and a special someone to experience a taste of late night fun for dessert. Up early? Head to The Fleetwood for brunch, this bar and restaurant serves up good times at all hours of the day.

Try The Fleetwood’s brunch menu, featuring such must-try items as The Fleetwood Donut, Stuffed French Toast and Old Skool Benedict with poached eggs, avocado, tomato, biscuit, hollandaise and Fleetwood potatoes. For dinner, start with the Tomato Bisque Soup and treat yourself to Grilled Atlantic Salmon with fingerling potatoes, wilted spinach, roasted tomato sauce and basil butter, or the Chili Brown Sugar Rubbed Ribeye steak with toasted garlic broccolini, house-made tater tots and peppercorn sauce, for an entrée.

Insider Tip: The Fleetwood offers a 3 for $30 Dinner Special, Happy Hour Daily from 4pm-7pm w/ $5 call drinks, beers and house wine and $5 food menu, and Live Stand Up Comedy with No Cover on Tuesdays.

I definitely will always love the Gaslamp district, but I recently took a little jaunt over to Coronado and had an amazing experience at Winestyles! Fun, with great wine, and a cozy little atmosphere! Great for a girls night out or date night!

Added 06/04/08 If you are anybody who is anybody you should be seen at The Fleetwood in downtown San Diego!

The Fleetwood in the Gaslamp in San Diego is definitely a place to be seen! It's a great place to go for different occasions, whether it be with a girlfriend or a date for dinner or for the nightclub at night! It's good for whatever you're into. It has a great downtown vibe and liveliness to it. There's a patio outside also good for people watching and mingling. I really liked the halibut that I ate for dinner, and my friend's short ribs were tasty too. Parking was a little bad though.

Added 02/07/08 Great food at low prices

I love fine dining and have grown accustomed to paying high prices for truly great dining. The Fleetwood served me excellent food at very reasonable prices. I ordered halibut in sauce with brussel sprouts, potatoes and chanterelle mushroom garnish. The fish was perfectly prepared - firm and flaky, neither underdone nor overdone, and the taste was fantastic. The ahi poke appetizer was also very good. Presentation was spectacular. With a glass of quality wine, my check was only about $32. In typical higher-priced restaurants, that would only get you an entree. The atmosphere is casual, and you sit in large, comfortable occasional chairs rather than table chairs. They play a steady stream of oldies on the sound system. I was very impressed with the price and value of my meal.

Added 01/28/08 The Fleetwood in downtown San Diego

Definitely a must try restaurant in downtown San Diego! I am a fan of their atlantic salmon and the creme brule is a great choice for dessert. They also have a great selection of wines and the staff is very friendly.

Added 01/17/08 I love the Fleetwood San Diego

There whole menu is fantastic, but try the beer battered shrimp and the braised short ribs. It's cozy comforting food that's still upscale -perfect for the Fleetwood's sport's grill edge with class.

I came to this new restaurant because I heard it was good. That was an understatement. I had the short ribs which were mazing. The staff was very nice and helpful and the wine was delicious. To try a fresh new taste come to the Fleetwood.

I agree

I agree! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great food! I had the seared-scallop and risotto cake; I would recommend that to any seafood lover!
