Editorial Review: (View User Reviews)

The Tea Pavilion at the Japanese Friendship Gardens is the optimal casual conclusion to a day at Balboa Park. Although classically elegant in presentation, the Tea Pavilion attracts a wide range of park goers with affordable, quality Asian inspired cuisine, arrayed teas, and calming views of the gardens. From a table inside the petite pavilion, or outside on the deck patio, guests enjoy magnificent views alongside sushi, Japanese noodles, rice bowls, soups and salads, sandwiches, and snacks. The Tea Pavilion has something for everyone; serving classic sandwiches with an Asian twist, such as the vegetable sandwich, with sprouts, lettuce, and Asian pesto. And as one may assume, the pavilion takes tea to the next level. Choose between green, oolong, white, and herbal teas, as well as slushies and traditional refreshments. We recommend the Green Dragon Chai Tea, a green tea spiced in authentic Himalayan tradition.

I am a tea fiend, and they always have something new I haven't even tried amd serve it in huge custom tea bags. You have to remove it before you drink the whole thing or add more water, because they give you so many leaves! The location is great, as I can just hit it up after a fun trip to the park, and it's right next to the friendship garden, so the atmosphere is uber-relaxing. The food isn't over priced like one would expect for something inside of the park and it's delicious to boot. Try the curry, it's fantastic. Plus, they sell Koala Yummies, something I never grew out of from childhood.
Conclusion

Whenever you're in Balboa Park, be sure to stop by the Tea Pavilion.

I'm so glad I found out about this place. I've been living in San Diego all my life and i'm surprised i haven't heard of this place until recently. The tea was reeeally good... just pair it with a bowl of miso soup and call it a day!
Conclusion

Everyone said it already and I'll say it again. Perfect end to a perfect day at Balboa Park.

Huge bowls of food for reasonable prices. Great place to have lunch at. The cherry blossom tea is okay only if you want something japanese. They also have a selection of japanese snacks which looked appetizing but I didn't buy them.
Conclusion
