Editorial Review of Sbicca an American Bistro

Just glancing through the long list of awards Sbicca American Bistro has acquired gives proof for Susan and Dan Sbicca’s success. With two consecutive "Best American Casual Dining" awards in a row, this down to earth restaurant located in a modern village with an amazing sea side view can not be beat. With a relaxed and friendly environment and a beautiful location, the amazing food is like the icing on the cake. The wood chairs and tables match perfectly with the earthy color scheme and vibe this restaurant provides. With twinkling lights outside giving off a romantic feel, this place is perfect for pretty much any occasion. The wine list is quite extensive with a variety of prices to suit any customer’s palate and wallet. There are also multiple menus planned for lunch, brunch, dinner and even one made especially Valentine’s Day. With detailed descriptions of these interesting meals on the menus which make your mouth water, it is definitely hard not order the whole menu. Starters include Louisiana blue crab cakes (with chive chipotle remoulade) as well as sesame seared ahi (with ruby-wasabi sauce and cucumber Serrano salsa). Amongst their most scrumptious entrees is the classic seafood paella (shrimp, clams, scallops, fresh seafood, pancetta, tomato saffron sauce) and the prosciutto-wrapped sea scallops (wild mushroom ragout, wilted rainbow chard, truffle aioli). Sbicca restaurant’s intent is to put passion and life into food and create flavors that cause your taste buds to tingle. So come along and enjoy a memorable dinner that will be hard to ever forget.

We haven’t been down to Sibicca in awhile and we head down there for their short ribs. Let me say I think their short ribs are (or should I say were the) best in San Diego County. Some idiot decided to take the short ribs off the menu, can’t fu#@^n believe it!!!! Maybe that would explain why the restaurant was pretty empty last night (Tuesday). Please come to your senses and put your ego aside…….

This place's menu was awesome and the food matched the atmosphere perfectly. It was great for my husband's birthday, but a bit expensive for a random date night. Let me tell you though, if a man takes you on a first date here and spends all that money... he's a keeper :)

Del Mar is such a beautiful little city with a beautiful beach. Sbicca is an expensive restaurant and the food portion doesn't make up for how expensive it is. I would advice you to go somewhere more affordable.

After seeing the ocean view, I didn't think it could get any better. Then it did. I could eat here forever if I had the money. Prime rib, crab cakes and cheddar mac/cheese, please!
