Editorial Reivew:

If quality seafood and sushi is what you’re in the mood for, then Roppongi is where it’s at! With an extensive sushi bar and dinner menu as well as luscious wine list, tapas, lunch and dessert menu, there isn’t a specific dish you won’t love!

Choose from sushi roll selections like the delicious spicy tuna roll, made with spicy tuna salad and pea shoots, nori and sesame seeds, or the traditional Roppongi roll, with shrimp tempura, cucumber and avocado, rolled in nori and sesame seeds.

Not in the mood for sushi today? Check out their extensive dinner menu and have a bowl of Asari Miso soup or Mongolian Chopped Duck Salad tossed with corn, red pepper, bean sprouts, red cabbage, mango, green onion, mint, lettuce and crisp won tons.

Move on toward a plate of Hibachi Grilled Sea bass, served with roasted vegetables and papaya ponzu or a plate of Boneless Bef Short Ribs, and cooked with honey mustard glaze and buttermilk mashed potatoes.

Top your meal off with a luscious Lemon Crème Brulee, prepared with lemon cookies, or a Warm Rustic Apple Tarte, mae with Vanilla Gelato. It will be a taste you’ll adore!

Uneven quality of tapas

My friend and I went to Roppongi on Wednesday for a late lunch. Turns out that from 4-6pm they only serve items from their tapas menu and sushi list. We decided to stay because the tapas were half-price during this time. Otherwise, Roppongi can be a pretty pricey place, and I'd hate to pay full price for uneven menu selections. The best tapas dish for quality flavor and value was the scallops. Four enormous, perfectly cooked scallops are served, each on a toast round or fried potato round (it was difficult to tell), garnished with fresh spring baby greens on top. Very memorable, but I wouldn't pay twice the price because they each were perhaps 3-4 small bites and came by themselves. The Indian lamb samosas sounded promising, but they lacked any distinguishable lamb or Indian flavor. Four of these fried wonton-like "samosas" came with a small dish of a very mild fruit chutney and a small dish of yogurt sauce. Roppongi needs to turn up the Indian flavors and add more filling for these to even be worth their half-price status. Don't bother ordering the "spiced' bean dip stuff with thick pita bread triangles. The dark mush, garnished by chopped tasteless tomatoes, could have been almost anything, and the dish looked dull and unappetizing. Roppongi should rework or get rid of this offering. Drinks were expensive even during this "happy hour" time of day. The table next to us ordered warm sake, but were informed that Roppongi only had cold sake! Is this really true? If so, it seems absurd. We did not try the sushi so I can't report on its quality or value. Service was slow but pleasant. However, the waitress seemed to disappear as we finished. The check folder I put on the end of our table with my credit card clearly visible remained there for more than 20 minutes until I flagged down a skimpy-dressed hostess and asked her to give it to our waitress. The tight black mini-mini-dress with shiny sequins in the back that the hostess w
