Editorial Review of Red Marlin

Red Marlin is a waterfront restaurant at the Hyatt Regency at Mission Bay that offers some of the most incredible bayside seating and views in all of San Diego. Red Marlin offers several dining options, including an open-air terrace, the perfect setting in which to enjoy a romantic meal on the water’s edge. The Chef’s Table, in the heart of the restaurant and situated adjacent to the Wine Wall, is the ideal place to see, be seen and indulge in the restaurant’s lunch and dinner menus, including selections such as Organic Heirloom Tomato and Mozzarella Sandwich, Linguine with Citrus Salmon Tartar, House-made Blue Crab Cake, a Grilled Chicken Wrap with Arugula, Grilled Eggplant and Roasted Red Peppers and a Grilled Salmon Salad with Lemon Confit, Arugula, Baby Tomatoes and Cucumber. Guests who prefer to enjoy the 360 degree bay views from Red Marlin’s bar can also enjoy a menu of small bites, including Seared Tuna Tataki, Fresh Steamed Giant Prawns, Oyster Shooters, Vegetable Spring Rolls with Tofu, Shitake Mushrooms and Peanut Sauce and Soy Glazed Beef Yakatori Skewers.

Added 11/11/09 Sweet!

I was in San Diego for my sister's wedding, and brought my sister here the day before. Let me just say, "It's amazing!" The food is so tasty, and the staff is very friendly and professional. My server, Frank, was awesome. He recommended the scallops, (and I'm not a huge fan of scallops), and they were just perfect and the best scallops I ever had in my life. I will go back just for the scallops (I am now only a fan of "Red Marlin" scallops). We started with the crab cakes, and they were amazing. Just like the East Coast. Long story short, go to Red Marlin. It's on Mission Bay. It's actually on the bay overlooking the boats and marina. AWESOME!!! Go in time to see the sunset. The views are amazing

As you can verify, the menu is extememly limited (and on the day we were there, they did not even have some of the items) and the prices are unbelievably high for such small and poor quality food. That awful jazzy music was so inappropriate for a restaurant on the water--as is the menu.

Added 06/04/08 New Red Marlin in Mission Bay

Red Marlin in Mission Bay is going to be a huge hit this summer. I took my girlfriend here last weekend for dinner during sunset, and it was amazing. The seafood menu is so creative and the setting is relaxing with a great view of the Bay. It wasn't that busy, probably because of the hotel location. I hope it doesn't get too busy so I can still enjoy it - but it's definitely worth trying out when dining in the Pacific Beach area.

Red Marlin is one of the best new restaurants in San Diego. Their food is innovative and fresh, the views are gorgeous and the service is impeccable. And everyone there went out of his way to make my meal enjoyable. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
