Proper Gastropub

Impressive wine prices! Who would have guessed? That was certainly a nice addition to the night. The second best thing? The risotto cakes! You have to try them.

I'm also horrible at mimicking them if I hear one. And there's plenty abound at Proper Gastropub. Lots of fun to go to Wine Steals East Village and peruse the huge wine selection and then take a bottle up to the viewing deck to watch a Padres game. Much rather be there than the stadium. Our waiter Will was super knowledgeable, recommending wines and also helping us get the best deals. I could eat a whole plate of the parmesan polenta that comes with the short ribs by itself. And the fish in the fish and chips is pretty big! I'm getting hungry again ... Ooh and you have to get the Pimm's Cup.

On Friday night, a friend and I decided after hearing the advertisements, that we wold go to the Proper Gastro Pub before going to the game. This place is fabulous. We were immediately impressed with our service. The wait staff was knowedgeable about the food and beverages, they were attentive and informative. We went back in toward the end of the game and were delighted that sitting on the patio, it was almost as good as being at the game (but a bit warmer!) We watched the end of the game, had drinks and a very good time. By the way, the food we sampled was very good - brown and tan mac and cheese, calamari, and the grilled asparagus and sauteed spinach were perfect and all recommended by staff. Keep up the god work.
