With the slogan, “No shirt, no shoes, no problem”, it’s no
wonder that the cash-only Pipes Café is a favorite among the beach-bumming
locals of Cardiff
by the Sea. Where else can you wander in from the surf, hand the clerk five
dollars and some pocket change and get a huge, hot breakfast burrito and a Kona
coffee? For just a few quarters more,
you can indulge in the Veggie Scrambler (eggs, onions, cilantro, and cheese
with potatoes and an English muffin for $4.95) or the Big Breakfast with
pancakes (eggs, bacon, potatoes, English muffin, and pancakes for just $5.50).
For more caffeine options, visit the freestanding Pipes
Coffee Bar, where a friendly barista will whip up a milky way mocha or Mexican
hot chocolate.
One last note: Don’t be daunted by the long and winding line
outside of Pipes – it moves quickly.
