My family's favorite place is Phil's barbeque. The new location is so awesome. It's even more accomodating because of it's size. The customer service is excellent and the food is phenomenal. Cooked quickly, cooked thoroughly, cooked perfectly. I highly reccomend Phil's BBQ on Sports Arena Blvd.
Conclusion
this place is more than worth it. a great spot to bring the wife and kids.

Cons
really crowded

my boyfriend told me phil's ribs were world-famous or something but i'd never heard of them. he took me there last week for lunch and we got two rib sandwiches which were delicious. the downside was that we had to wait a really long time for seats, and this was like 3 in th eafternoon! next time we'll have to order like two rack of ribs to make up for the wait.
Conclusion
i would recommend phil's bbq in san diego if you're a fan of ribs & eating messy - there was this family of 6 and they were all eating with bibs on :-)

Pros
Fast service, great food, fun environment
Cons
Long waits-especially on weekends

Phil's BBQ is the best BBQ I've ever eaten. Their sauce is sooo good. I had the ribless and chikless meal because I don't like to get dirty and this meal has no bones. The best time to go is during the week to avoid the long lines, and if someone is visiting you from out of town, be sure to take them to Phil's BBQ--They'll be sure to come back soon.
Conclusion
If you don't mind the crowds, Phil's BBQ is worth the wait.

Pros
Great food, fast service, reasonably priced
Cons
Long lines, lack of tables

It may not be located in the heart of Kansas City, but Phil's BBQ is about as close to BBQ brilliance as one can find in Southern California - and even in regions beyond. Their pulled pork sandwich is to die for, and their ribs and chicken are second to none. Side dishes are, well... simply side dishes; as the meat is the main attraction. There's always a line, but the employees take care of each customer quickly and efficiently, so wait times are generally minimal. Getting a table, however, is another matter entirely; and if it's a Friday or Saturday night, you're better off calling in your order and picking it up. Enjoying the deliciousness from home is a tactic I've employed many times myself.
Conclusion
For phenomenal BBQ food in San Diego that's worth waiting for, give Phil's a try. Or call 'em and enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
