The famous Old Town Mexican Café is filled with brilliant colors, laughing crowds, the jubilant rattle of maracas, and the steamy sizzle of hot fajitas. When the lines are at their peak, the restaurant is also filled with rumbling tummies. However, the scenery compensates for the wait, and once you actually make it to a table and are presented with your dish, any frustrations will be immediately forgiven. Try the cheese-stuffed Steak Azteca, the corn bowl Sopapillas, hot rotisserie chicken, or the crispy open-faced quesadillas, and wash it all down with a piquant Bloody Maria. Before meandering on after dinner, pause to watch the "Tortilla Ladies of Old Town" preparing corn and flour tortillas from scratch—more than 7,000 daily.
There is no way, I will ever go back here. First off, the wait for our drinks (soda) took about 20 min. The cheese crisp (about $6.00) is exactly that. A burnt , taco sized tortilla with burnt cheese on top. Not only did the waitress spill salsa on our 6 month old, she also proceeded to try and offer my fiance her cell phone number, because he "looked like they might have things in common". The chicken tacos were huge, but very bland. Not worth the money, and definately not deserving of a tip. Yummy salsa though, and the bussers cleaned up fast.
