Editorial Review of
Nicky Rottens
Nicky Rottens is a burger joint and sports bar in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Serving burgers, beer, cocktails, and sports, Nicky Rotten’s distinguishes itself from the average burger joint with its classical design. Brick, black leather and oak make this bar the ultimate destination for a sporting event, breakfast, lunch, dinner or a night out. The mood is set with a varied music selection and friendly bartenders and waiters and waitresses. Customers can enjoy casual dining or social gatherings with table service across from the bar, or grab a seat at the bar and watch as expert bartenders shake up classic cocktails. For those seeking a bit more privacy or for large groups, the mezzanine level, which provides leather seating, a fireplace, and a birds-eye view of the action below, would be perfect. A patio is also available for those wishing to enjoy their meal outside, and there are heaters to prevent customers from getting chilly. Flat screen plasma TVs are visible from every seat in the restaurant, including the patio, and customers can rest assured that their food is of the highest quality; Nicky Rotten’s hand-presses burgers made from Grade A Midwestern beef, and they use only fresh organic vegetables. This does not prevent the menu from having a playful vibe, with classics like tater tots made available in pesto aioli or garlic style. The delicious desserts are not to be missed, either; the Sloppy Seconds Sundae evokes the childhood ice cream treat we all craved, but is undeniably a more adult version.
