Nick's at the Beach is best known for fresh seafood and unparalleled ocean views. Nick's two-story restaurant offers unlimited amenities in two selective settings, making it one of Pacific Beach's most valued neighborhood restaurants. Downstairs radiates with a casual, California-style vibe. An outdoor sidewalk café meets an inviting indoor dining room; both serving twenty main course dishes prepared by executive chef Scott McElroy.
In addition to always-fresh seafood, Nick's serves steak and chicken entrees, apple brandy pork chops, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and salads until 1:00am every morning. After dinner, or a late night snack, the real party begins upstairs. Nick's second floor houses 29 TVs, 16 beers on tap, and a huge outdoor patio that allows smoking. The outdoor deck also boasts beautiful sunsets and oceanviews to accent your all-inclusive evening at Nick's.
The ambiance was nice with subdued lighting and period photos of PB. We expected a fresh seafood experience with diverse types of preparations. The server (though very nice) did not seem to know the menu or the promotions. There was a tent card on the table detailing a "Two for Tuesday inclusive dinner promotion including wine, entrees appetizer and dessert". When asked how our orders fit into this and whether we could have it (three different times), we were finally told that they don't do it anymore. We had to ask for the specials, ask for water and ask for drinks to be reordered. There is no child's menu available. The preparations were almost without exception, overly spicy and unimaginative with an overabundance of jalapeno and cliantro as pervasive ingredients.
