Restaurant Details: Krakatoa was established in 2003 and it is a unique coffeehouse and restaurant created in a beautiful repurposed Craftsman house in Golden Hill. They serve delicious sandwiches, bagels, smoothies, salads and are very well-known for their famous potato salad. In this coffeehouse, all the baked goods are made on their own and they serve colossal homestyle pastries such muffins, brownies, cookies and cakes. They have also created many new, tasty and unusual coffee drinks to tempt you, such as the Smoky Mocha, with espresso freshly brewed with Lapsang Souchong tea, chocolate and rich spices like cinnamon, ancho chiles and just a hint of cayenne. They also have their famous Orange Blossom Latte, which is an espresso brewed with fresh orange peel, milk and a smidge of jasmine syrup. These delicious and refreshing drinks can be served either hot or iced. They also have an ever-changing range of freshly made lemonades which include flavors such as lavendar, strawberry-rose, lingonberry and refreshing huckleberry limeade. Come by and relax on our shady, tree-packed patio, have a meal, snack, dessert or just a coffee. Dogs on leash are more than welcome to join you outside. The Krakatoa is jointly owned by the folks who brought you the Casbah, Starlite, The Whistlestop Bar, The Livewire, The Riviera Supper Club and Turquoise Room and the new Station Tavern. All these places have made it big and for good reason. They all share a charming quality and outgoing vibe, that has all the customers coming back for more.
