Looking for something exotic tonight? Khyber Pass, a restaurant specializing in food from Afghanistan, just might satiate your taste buds. Located in Hillcrest, Khyber Pass is a warm, family-owned eatery with a lot of San Diego history.

 

A myriad selection of Afghan dishes can be found on the menu, like kabobs and curries. Khyber Pass presents interesting dishes like Aushak, a dumpling topped with yogurt and meat sauce, as well as crowd favorites like Sambosa, fried pastries stuffed with beef, coriander, and chickpeas.  Khyber Pass offers up a few select wines as well as other more traditional drinks to wash it all down.

Added 01/05/09 Comfort food at a great price

I dine out almost every night and this place is a winner in terms of value and quality. If you're in the mood for good hearty comfort food with a hearty glass of wine this is the place for you, and the value pricing on the menu is a bonus. Service is attentive but not rushed.
