Jolly Boy Saloon
Long time Old Town staple bar, the Jolly Boy Saloon, has officially re (re) opened! Paying homage to the western gangsters of the past, Jolly Boy Saloon offers an array of absinthe drinks at their 1800s style mahogany bar, lit up by oil lamps straight out of an old cowboy movie. The saloon first opened its doors in 1854 and has continued to provide San Diego residents with a rowdy good time thanks to their stiff cocktails and mouth-watering Mexican meals. Weave through the various 19th century relics such as barrels and ox carts and engage in some good, ol' fashion gambling, or take a seat on the beautiful patio and watch the Old Town tourists cruise by. If absinthe isn't your forte, make sure to try the signature beer margarita with a few rolled tacos, you will not be disappointed.
Get down to The Jolly Boy Saloon for “Jolly Hour,” from 4-9pm, Monday through Friday, or 4-7pm on Saturday and Sunday for $1.50 Budweiser beers, $3.00 House Margaritas, and of course, the Green Pixies Shooter (the little sister of the Green Fairy), for $5.00.
