With a name like House of Blues, you'd think the venue only features Blues music. That's where you'd be wrong (assuming you have never visited HOB).
HOB in Gaslamp features a wide range of live bands from hip hop to metal to emo shiz playing in the lower-floor stage area. You will find bands both local, national, and even international. The audience area by the stage is large and there is a bar nearby so you can swig on a drink as you enjoy he music. A second bar can also be found in the dining section of HOB.
The ground-floor restaurant section of House of Blues has very average food. I would definitely eat somewhere else, but it is worth a try just to see if you can find something good. The waiters and waitresses in the dining area are really outgoing and help make you forget how sub-par the food is.
Conclusion
HOB is a top venue for music. The stage area is definitely made to give both the audience and band a good time. The restaurant is average, but most people come here for music...not the food.
