Firenze Trattoria
Firenze Trattoria, in San Diego’s affluent northeastern quarters, is only twenty minutes from the city center. However, the cuisine is so authentically Italian, diners feels as if they’ve been instantaneously airlifted and gently dropped in the lap of the Mediterranean. Reserve a seat in the thriving patio, lovely by night or day, and indulge in a genuine taste of Italy. Appetizers, like the caprese and the bruschetta, are the real thing. Entrees range from smoked salmon with sun-dried tomatoes and shallots in a light cream sauce over fettuccine, to grilled jumbo sea scallops wrapped in prosciutto, to squash ravioli over sautéed spinach. One of the most unique selections is the rollatini: sliced eggplant rolled and filled with ricotta, pine nuts, fresh Italian herbs, and bread crumbs topped with fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella.
