Translating literally as the Greek word for "six," EXY sits across the street from the Ivy Hotel, in the former LG's Steakhouse site at 6th and F on the outskirts of the Gaslamp District, serving a fusion of Mediterranean cuisine in a sophisticated restaurant and lounge setting. The southern half of the ground floor is dedicated to smooth, minimalist décor; the hanging lights and tulle window coverings give for a very mellow, spacious feeling. On the northern side, a more traditional and formal restaurant seating area resides, although it doesn't lose its class.
The Mediterranean inspired menu at EXY includes dishes like the Cretan Bread Salad, a mixture of feta, croutons, baby greens, sweet onions, basil, and tomatoes, or the Grilled Octopus, resting on a bed of arugula and red onion salad. For a classic Greek favorite, try EXY's spin on moussaka, the Moussaka Ravioli filled with lamb and vegetables.
The food was great and the value was terrific. My wife was happy for once and that makes me happy! I'll be bringing her back again soon. Ask for Justin he was a terrific server and would go back just to visit with him. Oh and it was also great that BOTH the GM and the Chef stopped by to see how our meals were. They were all very personable. -Jay
