If you’ve never been, it may be hard to find – Extraordinary Desserts is tucked away in an urban jungle, but when you see the line of people out the door, through the garden patio, and onto Fifth Avenue– you’ll know that you’ve found Karen Krasne’s delightful cafe extraordinaire. Extraordinary Desserts fills your senses from the moment you enter. The sight of Krasne’s edible art – all of which look too perfect to eat – immediately greets you as you enter the side door. The smell of coffee beans roasting beckons you to enjoy a cup with your dessert. And of course, the taste – you’ll agree that it’s worth the wait.
I have just gotten back from going to your little italy for dessert. It was a sickening experience after seeing a couple of mice in your restaurant. We let our waiter know His name (Nelson L) said oh yeahh those are our friends!! Are you kidding me is this a way to run a restaurant. Sick!! I understand that in some countries mice/rats are a delicacy but here please that is just gross. After that comment from our waiter it is my understanding that they do not care about the cleanliness and quality of the desserts. sure it might taste good but not with a rat in it. Just writing this as to warn other might be customers not to get grossed out like we did by seeing mice around extraordinary desserts. My compliments on the Tea Mice Droppings, Triple Chocolat Mice, passion fruit mice, Torta misu mice!!
I recommend taking any out of town guest to Extraordinary Desserts. It's one of those special places that defines San Diego. They specialize in desserts (obviously) and coffee and tea. Everything about the desserts, from the way they look to how they taste, is perfect. They are decorated with real fruit and real flowers, and all of the ingredients are natural, making these treats rich and blissfully delicious. The atmosphere is really cool too--ultra urban
