En Fuego has been Del Mar’s spiciest spot for traditional Mexican dishes and fresh seafood for over ten years. The restaurant’s interior is decked out with south-of-the-border embellishments so authentic, you’ll be listening for the sounds of mariachi as you consume your carne asada quesadilla. Other notable menu items are the pan-seared snapper with roasted chiles and avocado, and the slow-roasted chicken leg served with red chile mole. Dessert selections, such as bread pudding, Bacardi brownies, and the ubiquitous flan, are worth loosening your belt for.
For some reason, people at my office have had 3 work lunches there. Lunches have been PAINFULLY slow -- 2.5-3 hours. Drinks rarely refilled. Server argued with my friend when he got her order wrong. Could put up with the rest if the food was good, but it's mediocre. Overall, 3 straight bad experiences.
