The original Empire House was a boarding house, restaurant, and bar in Rome, New York that offered travelers and locals an escape from everyday life. With a passion for food and quality service, Empire House blends the elements of neighborhood bar and restaurant to offer San Diego foodies great food, a creative ambiance, and uncompromised service. Try breakfast options such as the Buena Vista Social Scramble, made with cubed chicken, diced ham, and melted Swiss cheese topped with lime aioli; the Laranjo, a mix of eggs, spicy Portuguese lingucia sausage and Swiss cheese, served on a Kaiser roll with a side of potatoes; and the Poor Man’s Stew Scramble, with hot dog dimes, potatoes, and cheddar cheese topped with green onion. Lunch and dinner choices include the Combo Burger, topped with housemade pulled pork and havarti cilantro slaw on a seeded bun; the Pear & Pecan Salad, with chopped mixed greens, pear, red onion, citrus vinaigrette, toasted pecans, crumbled blue cheese; the Roasted Veggie Sandwich, with hummus, Italian squash, zucchini, roasted red pepper, pickled red onion, and cotija cheese served on a French roll; or the T.J. Style Dog wrapped in bacon, topped with cilantro slaw, garlic aioli, red and greensauce on a fresh French roll.
