Del Mar Brigantine

My friends have been raving about the fish tacos at this place so I just had to try it out on my own and it was FABULOUS. The view is wonderful, the grilled swordfish tacos are SUPERB and overall just a really great place to enjoy some delicious food. For other entrees...it's a bit pricey, but I'm sure it would be delicious too. Only thing I had a problem with is the lack of a parking lot.

The Brig embraces a quaint maritime theme without over indulging or treading into 'summer rental' country. Much like Del Mar itself, the Brig combines an air of sophistication with the relaxed, local North County vibe that speaks chill millionaire, surfers fresh from the water and cougars galore. Seating in the bar is first come and you can usually find a comfy spot; for first timers I suggest a bar seat. For those entertaining a date, the view from the outside seating is spectacular. A panoramic of Del Mar proper, the Brig offers views of the racetrack, the ocean and onto the ‘mountains’ of Rancho Santa Fe. I’m trying not to oversell here, but the view is something that will stick with you long after your delicious food and drink has parted ways. Which brings us to the food: always on. I can’t say I have tried too much on the menu, but I know the Brig does three things with excellence: the fish tacos, the clam chowder and the burger. Now one of the keys to the Brig is happy hour – half off all of the above mentioned items – including a pretty hefty tariff lifted from spirits. For my money, it’s the Brig all the way. The food, the service, great drinks and always a great time.
