Restaurant Details: Ingrid Croce opened up Croce’s Restaurant and Jazz Bar as a tribute to her late husband and former musician Jim Croce. It was back in 1973 when they first moved to San Diego after having lived in New York City while Jim went on promotional tour all over Europe and the United States. Here was the initial thought of an eatery and music joint. Back then nothing of the sort was available and years after joking of opening up a local restaurant and bar, Ingrid decided to keep Jim’s music alive through what has come to be known as Croce’s Restaurant and Jazz Bar. Located on Fifth and F in the Gaslamp district, Croce’s Restaurant and Jazz Bar continues to pay tribute to Jim Croce’s music by offering live music nightly alongside the delicious contemporary American cuisine. Below is a sample menu of some of the delicious small plates: Mediterranean Hummus served with Roasted Red Peppers, garlic flat bread, cucumber and Greek olives Baked Brie, Honey Roasted Garlic, with toasted baguette, baby greens and Grand Marnier-berry compote ? Tempura Calamari with Red and Green Jalapeños, served with oregano marianara parmesan Spicy Firecracker Shrimp with Chipotle Aioli Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with a sweet corn puree, baby corn, crispy shallots and a sun-dried tomato oil Golden Ahi Poke with mango, green onions and ginger, tossed with sesame and soy, served with housemade taro chips. San Diego's Croce’s Restaurant and Jazz Bar has been a famed Gaslamp dining spot for nearly a quarter century. Conceived as a tribute to Ingrid Croce’s late singer/songwriter husband, Jim, this San Diego restaurant landmark is on the corner of 5th Avenue and F Street, adjacent to the Keating Hotel, and offers both contemporary American cuisine and live music nightly. Consider starting your day with the tantalizing Tahitian Vanilla French Toast with fresh strawberries and walnuts, or the Smoked Salmon and Scallion Scramble. Dinner at Croce’s is more than dinner, it's a tradition, and includes some of the finest steak dishes in town as well as a variety of Pastas and Risotto selections, such as the Shrimp Carbonara Fettucini with Italian Pancetta or the Double Chicken Lasagna.

Added 04/25/11 And all that jazz

The jazz bar here is, hands down, the best part of the restaurant. The food is above average, but not the kind of thing you'd be craving on death row. What's really hip? Grabbing a drink and getting a front row seat to some of the best Jazz acts in San Diego.

Croce's is an awesome place to go for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary) or a date. This place has a lot of local history and offers a memorable experience. The menu and food are both great. Definitely recommended for a music lover, especially live jazz. Nothing beats a delicious meal & music.
