Editorial Review of Cowboy Star

Cowboy Star was the first gourmet eatery in the East Village area of downtown San Diego. Cowboy Star captures the romance of the Old West, featuring contemporary American cuisine with a Western flair. Executive Chef Victor Jimenez uses all prime meats and offers a variety of items that you won’t typically find at other restaurants. The Bison Burger and the Bison-Ribeye are both popular items, not to mention the Buttermilk Sweetbreads. Cowboy Star is a gourmet restaurant, incorporating a cozy atmosphere with quality food. Cowboy Star also features a chef’s counter available with reservations for guests to watch their dinner prepared in front of them. An adjoining butcher shop is also available for guests to come and buy quality meat for home.

Added 11/19/08 Cowboy Star Is Great!!!

We arrived at 5pm for a 6pm reservation and we were going to have drinks at the bar but we decided to be seated because our table was open. Angie, Peter and Jon Paul made us feel right at home. The appitizer was great and the cocktails were chilled to perfection. The meal was out of this world. The Filet and the Bison Ribeye were prepared just as we asked and were served on a hot plate which kept our meals hot thoughout the entire evening. Everything could not have been better. Upon leaveing, we were thanked and Peter was excellent in his manner and he even took time to give my Mother who was my guest a hug. It will always be a place that will bring great memories.

Added 06/22/08 Cowboy Star Restaurant is Amazing

If you're looking for a fresh menu that totally blows away the stale menus at most tired steakhouses you gotta check out Cowboy Star. We started with Crab Cakes, Braised Lamb Short Ribs, the amazing wild-boar carpaccio which was wonderfully unique and well accented with honey-jalapeno mustard, and a delicious organic greens salad. I had the Bison Ribeye which was an excellent alternative to my normal choice of the Fillet.
