City Delicatessen and Bakery in Hillcrest has an extensive menu that caters to even the most particular of taste buds. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the after-movie binge, the corner deli and bakery is a popular spot for reliably good food and people watching, too. A quick glance at the menu would suggest the owners of City Deli are sandwich aficionados. Pastrami, chopped liver, corned beef, honey baked ham, beef tongue, turkey meatloaf, chicken salad, you name it. With pickles on the table as soon as you arrive, give that Matzo ball soup an extra long look (it's a local favorite). Add on a traditional root beer float or a NY egg cream and you've got yourself a real meal. Whatever you do, be sure to save some space for dessert. Almost everything in the display up front is homemade. From sweet kugel with apples, pineapples and raisins, to the city's favorite crème brule, City Deli knows their sweets.
