Cafe Zucchero
While Cafe Zucchero's coffee is raved about and the cuisine is quite delicious, it is most notable for their mouth-watering desserts. Frank Busalacchi is known for being quite the skilled pastry maker and has studied under a Sicilian master, as a result, he serves up one of San Diego's most authentic and stunning desserts, the “Cake of Sicily,” a glorious blend of marzipan, ricotta, sponge cake and ripe fruits.
Don't skip on dinner and only order dessert though, or you may miss out on such scrumptious dishes as the Pollo Alle Zucchero, chicken layered with prosciutto, mozzarella and a rich cream sauce. With all these wonderful flavors around, it's no wonder diners tend to hang about tables long after the meal is over, sipping on some of the best espresso in the city and digesting the perfect Italian meal in San Diego.
