Added 04/02/13 A Littel Slice of Italy

Buona Forchetta is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that serves the best Italian food I’ve ever had. My mother-in-law has traveled in Italy, and she swears it’s a “little slice of Italy.” The owner, Matteo Catteano, is from Northern Italy, and it took him two years to open this restaurant. It was worth the wait. The pizzas are cooked in a real Italian wood-fired oven. I’ve had the Sergio (mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto) and the Nicola (mozzarella, prosciutto, mushroom and truffle oil), and while simple, both were packed with flavor. I also recommend the pastas, which are made fresh daily. I’ve had the scarpinocc, a type of ravioli, that was filled with sage and a light cheese, and the regular ravioli, also vegetarian, that featured a pink sauce. Salads rock too. My favorite is the sottoterra, which has warm root vegetables on top. For dessert, try the tiramisu, which melts in your mouth, or the panna cotta, which is like an eggless custard.
