Editorial Review of
Bootlegger San Diego
In an unexpected location, Bootlegger has become one of the most popular bars in East Village. The casual, speakeasy vibe makes it a place you can hang out at for hours and the large supply of seating, open space, and windows add to the comfortable feel. Throw in 32 beers and 4 liquors on tap plus an intriguing menu, and curiosity is sparked. On the menu, small plate choices include Ahi Poke, Ears of Cornbread served with honey butter and jalapeno jelly, Charred Boar Sparred Ribs, Pop Rock Shrimp, and Thick Cut Bacon Steak served with crispy potato pancake and maple gastrique. For those wanting something light, Bootlegger offers several tasty salad options. The Deck of Beet Salad is a mixture of chevre, apples, mache, and lemon horseradish vinaigrette, and the Classic Caesar is made with pumpernickel croutons and house dressing. For big appetites, large plates are offered as well, such as Local Halibut Fish Stix and Chips, Lobster Pot Pie, and Smokey Mac-n-Cheese.
