Bencotto Italian Kitchen
Bencotto Italian Kitchen is a new culinary hot spot located in the “Q” building in San Diego’s Little Italy community. Opened just recently in 2009, “Bencotto” means and refers to a meal “done well,” or perfectly cooked. The restaurant was opened by two young Italian immigrants with plenty of fine dinig experience. After opening a bistro in New York and running a mozzarella bar in Milan, the pair soon decided that San Diego was their “home”. Taking elements from each of these dining experiences and all the magic found in the traditional Italian kitchen, the pair was able to create Benecotto. In Bencotto’s kitchen, culinary expertise meets the highest — quality and genuine taste. Bencotto serves hand -made “home style” dishes in an environment that reflects who they are: young generation of Italians who celebrate their culinary heritage, presenting it in a modern, relaxed, and inviting kitchen-restaurant. Bencotto strives to be the ultimate Italian eating experience, drawing inspiration from the kitchens where Italians grow up, cook, and eat. Try the signature Pasta A Modo Tuo – Pasta Your Way – with such choices as Bencotto Sauce (pink spicy pancetta sauce) and Ravioli Di Magro (egg, “00” semolina flour pasta, filled with ricotta, spinach, parmesan cheese). Their traditional Italian menu is designed in a very nontraditional “dine to share” fashion, allowing each guest to try the other tantalizing tastes available on their table. Try out this contemporary Italian family style kitchen, complete with authentic main dishes and friendly, Old World service.
