The executive chef, Isabel Cruz comes from a Latino family where food was always at the core of the large and regular get-togethers. With a self-taught talent, family and friends from Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico became the early influences of her food, with later inspiration stemming from the Thai, Korean, and Japanese cooking styles she was introduced to while growing up in Los Angeles. Eventually, Isabel's cooking infused both of these influences creating a mix of Latin and Asian, that results in exotic and fresh food that hold unique and bold flavors. Taking this combination to the next level, Isabel started incorporating modifications in her menus, transforming popular traditional and rich cuisines into healthier dishes for the modern day. Now, Isabel's dishes let your test buds find out that "healthy food" can be, well, delicious. Barrio Star is definitely described as a Fresh, creative takes on traditional mexican food. Generous portions, innovative margaritas, friendly atmosphere, wholesome ingredients, whimsical atmosphere, all mixed into unique south of the border cuisine!
