Offering specialty Cuban items such as Cuban sandwiches with turkey and pork, papa rellenas (stuffed potato balls), corquetas (small friend rolls containing minced meat, mashed potatoes, and or shell fish and vegetables), pastelitos (baked puffs with filling), Azucar brings a taste of ethnicity to an ordinary lunch or snack in Ocean Beach. More noted for its hand-decorated bakery favorites, such as the light coconut cupcake and red velvet cake, Azucar is known for creating dessert treats with Cuban flair — such as the unique Mojito cookie. Added 10/15/10 Sweetness! Best cafe con leche in town!

My wife, daughter and I try to get to Azucar at least once a week. Living close to downtown makes it a bit difficult but it's a drive we make any time we can for some sweet breakfast items like their fresh scones or one of their veggie quiches and the best Cafe con Leche in San Diego!
