Editorial Review of The Casbah

The Casbah is as timeless as some of the acts that have graced the venue's stage. From NoFX to Nirvana, nary a band has ventured through the San Diego area and not bestowed their music upon the attentive ears of the Casbah crowd. From chic, urban trendsetters to scene kids and even dirty punk rockers, the Casbah clientele is as eclectic as the music the venue showcases. Catering to both local bands and nationally-touring acts, the Casbah, unlike a majority of indie rock venues, has forever maintained a come-one, come-all approach to showcasing music. Rarely do ticket prices exceed $20, and the costs of adult beverages also fall within the realm of reasonability. Throw in a lounge section and sizeable outdoor smoking area, and you've got the premier San Diego music venue for experiencing phenomenal indie acts in an intimate setting.

Added 09/06/07 Casbah is the place to be for live music

I've been to the Casbah countless times and have yet to be disappointed. Not only does the venue draw major-label talent, but the club showcases some of the best local and no-name bands in San Diego. For indie rock, the place can't be beat. Drinks are far from expensive, and for the uber cheap, there's always the ever-popular PBR. The crowd is an eclectic mix of styles and musical tastes, but at the end of the day, one fact remains steadfast: they're all there to listen to good music.
