Formerly Minus One Ultra Lounge, the new San Diego Sway is an ultra-chic subterranean nightclub, gleaming of elegance and accessible through a private entrance from within the Keating, outside in the bustling Gaslamp District, or from within the merK Bistro. Opening spring 2009, Sway is both intimate and sexy, layered in rich leathers and gleaming design, offering guests an experience unlike any other in California. Relax and indulge with true VIP bottle service, where your personal host shakes martinis tableside while down-tempo tunes provide the perfect backdrop for conversation. The ideal place for an evening of private partying, Sway will set a precedent for elite patrons looking for an over-the-top nightlife experience.
As with the entrance to the hotel, the predominant color throughout Sway is red, creating a rich passionate speakeasy-type atmosphere complete with deep red lighting, deep leather booths, walls painted in vibrant red roses and punctuated by peeks to the original brick and stone, showing the heritage of the building. The single room space feels like a converted loft with an exclusive VIP area divided by floor-to-ceiling panels of velvety fabric, partitioning armless lounge sofas, and rectangular cocktail tables. The main bar, attended by dressed-up bartenders, has a high-tech feel and is made entirely from aluminum and steel.
