Editorial Review of Side Bar

Side Bar first acquired acclamation when it opened five years ago as a New York style hangout, upping the ante on VIP entertainment. Following an edgy revamp in early 2009, Side Bar now abides as both a lounge and nightclub, providing a dynamic aesthetic with classic sex appeal. A mismatched array of velvet burgundy couches is set beneath black sheathed crystal chandeliers. A cluster of thirty maroon birdcages dangles from the lofted ceiling above the front lounge. But the real focal point is the extreme birdcage in the back club that houses DJs and transforms into a stage for go-go girls to climb and tease the high-energy dancing crowd that gathers below.

Side Bar hosts the Five Ten Sunday Intermission Party each week, providing locals a refuge for post-pool partying fun, featuring a in-club Jacuzzi, swimwear dress code, and flowing champagne. Check out the scene:

My date got in for free but of course I was stuck with cover. Not a bad deal, I've gotten used to this by now. Once inside, the dance floor was packed and we were able to get in on the action. The music plays til the end of the night; try to keep up!

My boyfriend took me once to Side Bar, and was pretty impressed with how chic and trendy the place is. The bartenders are cool too, and it has good music for dancing. The drinks could get a bit pricey though, but what else can you expect from a place as swanky as this? The bouncers can be a bit intimidating too, but they seem nice.

LOVE the new Side Bar!

I went to Side Bar last weekend without even realizing there had been a remodel. When I walked in, I fell in love with the design. The bird cages are surreal, esp. the DJ bird cage by the dance floor. We hung by the "downstairs" front bar first, then danced it up in the back after a few rounds. The crowd is great and the new design is seriously one of the coolest I've seen in Gaslamp!
