My boyfriend took me once to Side Bar, and was pretty impressed with how chic and trendy the place is. The bartenders are cool too, and it has good music for dancing. The drinks could get a bit pricey though, but what else can you expect from a place as swanky as this? The bouncers can be a bit intimidating too, but they seem nice.
I went to Side Bar last weekend without even realizing there had been a remodel. When I walked in, I fell in love with the design. The bird cages are surreal, esp. the DJ bird cage by the dance floor. We hung by the "downstairs" front bar first, then danced it up in the back after a few rounds. The crowd is great and the new design is seriously one of the coolest I've seen in Gaslamp!
