Filling the need for an upscale bar in La Jolla that still maintains focus on sports, Prospect Bar stepped in and offered what the neighborhood's sports fans have needed for years. Offering an array of big screen plasma televisions tuned into the requested local game du jour and a selection of quality drinks and brews, the bar certainly provides all that is expected from a sports bar.
The rest of the offerings set the lounge a milestone away from the competition. With a classy vibe and top notch California cuisine, Prospect Bar and Lounge caters to the upper crust society of sports fans that would generally find sports grills tacky and dull. To further strengthen the bond with area locals, discounts are offered to La Jolla locals and busy executives will be pleased with the free wifi offered throughout the establishment.

do not go to this restaurant for happy hour period. 2 for 1 means you buy mutiple rounds of drinks and when you ask for your tab, they'll decide which drinks are free (not really two for one rounds, just cheapest drink always is always comped...example: first round ordered 2 identical beers, second round ordered identical wines, comped for beers because they were the least expensive, paid for both glasses of wine). appetizers are 2 for 1, but if you order an odd number, they will not ask you if you'd like to decide on another since it would be free, they'll just charge you for it and then tell you its too late to change the order. the owner explained that they can't change the pricing in the computer and that 'this is the best deal in la jolla'. mediocre food, 30% higher happy hour tab than expected, and owner does not care about treating customers fairly. diners beware, not an honest business practice and owner becomes disrepected easily when you call him out for taking your hard earned money.
Conclusion

tell cesar vallin, owner, to 'have a nice night' every time you walk past his place on the way to jack's. that is what he tells his customers after taking advantage of them!

After viewing the website, we chose this place to take my boyfriends mom and dad for a belated fathers day dinner. The menu was eclectic and had salads, soups, sandwiches, steaks and seafood entrees including dessert. We arrived for our reservation at 7. We were sat at a lopsided table and the host seemed irritated that we wanted to move. We sat for about ten minutes before being greeted. I asked her if there was another menu, she said that was it. There were two salad some appetizers and like 10 sandwiches. Where did all of the good entrees go? I was pissed because we were taking tem out for a nice dinner and their options were sandwiches or sanwiches. Very unhapy. I got a chicken cordon bleu sandwich w/o the bread. It tasted like a frozen chicken patty with cheese and sandwich ham. Arby's does it better. After dinner I asked for the dessert menu. I was told they don't have one.So after my unsatisfying meal I was unable to console myself or top of their "treat" with something sweet. So four four sandwiches and four drinks our dinner was $80. That's $20 per person average. I was planning on more of a $50 average that night and I would have been happy to pay it if they restaurant was all the website made it to be.
Conclusion

Not going bac. There were a ton of other cute restaurants in that location with a view as well. I will check something else out next time

This restaurant/lounge/bar/nightclub is situated in downtown La Jolla. It has a stunning view and kind of a nice layout...but that's where all the good stuff ends. First off, they need to pick what kind of place they want to be. Either be a great club, or restaurant, or whatever it's trying to be. The problem is that it doesn't do any of the following correctly. The "dance floor" is just pitiful. You can literally fit 25 people (when they're rubbing elbows with each other) on this place. It has corny flat screens everywhere and it just feels like it's trying too hard to be nightclub, when it's not. Now let's talk about this "restaurant" and service that comes with it. There is about enough room to sit about 25-30 people yet for some odd reason they can't get anything right. We sat down and had 1 menu for a group of 6 of us. Our waiter quickly said hi to us and didn't come back for another 20 minutes. Once he came back he took our drink orders, and then the real waiting began. 15 minutes to receive 3 beers, 2 glasses of wine, and a Mojito know wine is better with age, but give me a break! Then we waited again for another 30 minutes before he took our food orders. Then we waited ANOTHER 40 minutes or so to receive our food. Keep in mind, this is not intricate flashy food. This is regular sandwiches and burgers that you could pretty much get at any fast food joint in 3 minutes. We choked down our food and then proceeded to WAIT for our bill...about 20 minutes. We get the bill and we notice that they didn't give us the happy hour rates for the alcohol. When we asked the waiter he said that we ordered it after 8:30pm...NO KIDDING NUMBNUTS, YOU DIDN'T HELP US FOR 20 FREAKING MINUTES WHEN WE GOT THERE!!! Long story short, it took 50 minutes (I kid you not) to get the bill straightened out. So 3 hours later Prospect Bar & Lounge now has another customer that will never go back. This place is ridiculous and tries to be to many things, and fails at every singl
Conclusion

You couldn't pay me to go back to this place. I wouldn't be surprised if it closes in the upcoming months
