Onyx Room is one of San Diego's original hot nightlife destinations... if you can find it. Mixing lounge ambiance with club vibes, Onyx is a one of a kind "Room." Onyx stems from the infamous '60s nightlife scene. From the remains of the 1960s "Famous Door" cocktail lounge, the Onyx Room was born. Onyx continues the '60s tradition by maintaining a mellow scene created by word-of-mouth praise. The up-for-anything partiers crowd the energetic dance floor, dancing tobeats by rotating guest DJs. Onyx hosts a variety of guest DJs and private parties most nights of the week. Thin, the sister club of Onyx, also offers weekly events.

Added 05/17/07 Cool decor

I was there early this year, and was really amazed with the decor. I'm not really into jazz, but the guy playing there that Tuesday was really good, Gilbert Castellanos, I think his name was. On top of this great music, Onyx is really classy, and has really friendly staff. I felt kinda out of place though, because almost everyone there that night appeared to be big jazz afficionados.
